Big Horn Mountain UTV Trail

By Alex at SouthwestUTV.com

This easy 52 mile total out and back UTV trail has been well maintained by the  BLM. The trail crosses between two Saguaro strewn Sonoran Desert Wildernesses, the Big Horn Mountain Wilderness and the Hummingbird Springs Wilderness.

The trail head is located behind the West bound I-10 Burnt Well Rest Stop Area. The UTV trail runs parallel with I-10 for about 2 miles, a gate marks the next turn at the power line tower where the UTV trail follows the power lines North and over the Agua Fria Canal then out into the vast desert landscape.

The trail is well worn, rather smooth and well marked. There are no hills or large rocks. There are numerous “Wilderness Area Closed” signs on  both sides of the UTV trail so please observe the warnings to keep this trail open.

Give yourself about 4-5 hours for the round trip.

Directions: From Phoenix, take I-10 west to the Burnt Well Rest Stop Area

Staging:
We staged behind the rest stop. There is a barbed wire fence with a gate. Go through the gate and park anywhere.

Fees. No fees or permits required
