This 27,000 acre OHV and UTV Trail system located in the picturesque setting of the Prescott National Forest Preserve and just North of Saguaro Lake has got it all from steep, adrenaline pumping hill climbs to smooth, sandy river wash runs that end at the edge of Saguaro Lake. The area is rugged in spots but is relatively easy to navigate with well defined trails and trail signs.
Staging was just west of the Butcher Jones Recreation
Area, which has immediate access to the trail system. We followed deep whooped and well marked UTV Trail #13 all the way around to the beginning of UTV Trail #1829. UTV Trail #1829 heads south and down towards Saguaro Lake. The UTV trail starts out a bit rocky but the views of Prescott National Forest and Saguaro Lake are well worth the slow descent. The trail eventually eases into a long, smooth sandy wash and at the end of the trail is the payoff, a secluded sandy beach on the north side of Saguaro Lake.
We then traveled our way through mild to wild hill climbs and dry river wash crossings, west using UTV Trails #1844, #1830, #1814, and #1813 and ended up on UTV Trail #1863, another soft sandy wash trail. We followed it north to UTV Trail #13 which led us back to the staging area.
Another great day on the trail…till our next adventure in the Southwest…
