Brayton Finishes Fourth Overall at Anaheim 2

Brayton gets by Villopoto for the heat race winMEDFORD, OR (January 22, 2014) – Motorcycle Superstore/Bell support riders were on a roll this weekend, in both off-road and Supercross, grabbing the top two podium spots in the WORCS season opener and finishing a solid fourth overall against the top Supercross racers on the planet.

SUPERCROSS

Justin Brayton was on his game again at the third round of Supercross, better known as Anaheim 2. After battling with current Supercross champion, Ryan Villopoto, Brayton made a pass that would stick, earning him first place in his heat race and proving his performance this year is no fluke. In the main, Brayton gated well but found himself back in 10th place coming out of the first turn. “I blew the start in the final, I had a really good gate and felt like I could have holeshotted, but I wheelied or something.”

But Brayton’s persistence paid off as he worked his way through the pack, getting by both Dungey and Villopoto, two of the top Supercross racers in the world. When the checkers dropped, Brayton was in fourth just missing the podium by one spot. “I felt like I had the speed to run with the leader, but I proved my race was not a fluke and I’m here for the long haul.”

Sutherlin and Jones finished 1, 2 at WORCSOFF-ROAD

For Gary Sutherlin, it was another day at the office, an office full of boulders, rocks, sand washes and uphills. His race started out solid securing the second spot on the first lap, but arm pump pushed him back to fourth. “I had a good first lap and felt great, but then I pumped up bad. Finally after I pitted, I calmed down and everything started to come together.” On the last lap, Sutherlin got by Bobby Bonds, who suffered a rear flat, and took the lead plus his first win of the year.

Second to cross the finish line was Motorcycle Superstore’s latest addition to their race roster, FMF/RPM/KTM Racing’s Justin Jones. Jones had a great start holding the lead for several laps, eventually falling to the last lap charge by Sutherlin. This was Jones’ best WORCS finish to date and he was obviously excited. “I had an awesome race this weekend, one of the fastest two hour races I’ve been in. I’m pretty happy to end up on the podium in 2nd.”

Other notable Motorcycle Superstore athletes attending the first round of WORCS were Ty Tremaine and Eric Yorba, who finished 6th & 7th in the Pro Class. Travis Coy finished 2nd in the 450A Class. Elizabeth Bash took 3rd in the Women’s pro class on Saturday. Louise Forsley finished 7th.
