we were fortunate enough to get one in the shop which is here to stay. With the acquisition of the 2011Can Am 1000 XT package, we immediately went to work. We designed, fabricated, built, tested (and tested again) the signature HMF Swamp Series. After we allowed for some quality HMF staff ride time, we were ready for installation and mapping to begin. We saw huge success in producing horsepower gains beyond expectation. We continued to see torque gains throughout the RPM range, and because we had rode stock through the initial 20 hour break in time, we were ready to tackle the intricate mapping of the fuel optimizer. Can Am definitely was out to break barriers in the side-by-side market with state-of-the-art software never before seen in an off-road beast. This machine is intelligent with software programming options, a limited top speed of 10 mph if the seat belt is not fastened, and three different levels of performance according to three different keys. The off-road game just changed, and Can Am and HMF are leading the way.

After successfully producing the Swamp and Swamp XL systems for the 2011 Can Am Commander 1000 XT, we wanted more. We continued to work diligently on a dual-system. We came up with a dual slip-on half-system which allows the driver to still have full access to the industry exclusive dual level cargo box, among the many unique and original features never before seen off-road.

The Dual System

Currently finishing up in Research and Development is the powerful Dual Performance slip-on half-system. Our design allows the driver to keep the fully functioning, industry exclusive dual level cargo box with tilt assist still intact. This is done by providing a limiting cable on the bed so the driver can retain every feature unique to the Commander. The signature HMF design also features an x-style collector (or Siamese collector) with a 2 into 1 into 2 Dual system. The Commander was a beast with the HMF-fueled additional horsepower gains. The extra power from the HMF exhaust system was amazing.

This system is expected to be a best-seller in the side-by-side market, with nearly 110 presold units; we also have very high expectations for the Commander 1000XT systems. As we come across opportunities for further testing on other units, we will verify that our systems will work with the Commander 1000 and the Commander 1000 X as well as the 800R and the 800R XT.

The stats on the 2011 Can Am Commander 1000 XT are staggering. The Commander stands to revolutionize the game with stock features such as the most powerful engine in any side-by-side (the Rotax 1000 EFI V-Twin), Intelligent Throttle Control (ITC) and the new throttle by wire system, dual level cargo box with tilt assist, 26″ Maxxis Big Horn 2.0 series 6-ply tires, and Torsional Trailing-Arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension designed for superior rough terrain control. BRP’s off road trophy truck inspired forward thinking design produces a far smoother ride by allowing the wheels to move rearward simultaneous to moving up and down. When you pair that with five-way preload adjustable gas shocks at each wheel which have the largest diameter in the industry and 10 of suspension travel, you have one of the smoothest rides through rough terrain ever built.

Gaining additional horsepower to an already kick ass stock set up bored out 976cc v-twin with an HMF Dual Half-system is a must on this unit. Performance increases throughout the powerband, additional horsepower gains, tremendous power through the low end and mid-range torque increases are more than enough to conquer any trails, dunes or rocky mountains with the newly designed HMF Dual system.

Performance Series: Dual Slip On (Half Full) System:  $885.95

Swamp Series: Single Slip On: $399.95

Swamp XL Series: Single Slip On: $369.96
